Need a new road car... advice??
« on: August 06, 2009, 10:24:38 AM »
Hi all...

I have had enough of my Nitro stadium truck ( :bad:HPI Rush Evo)

I have decided to get a road car, and it has to be a leccy
my problem is that I dont know which car to get!

basically which tamiya chassis works best on general tarmac, not super smooth but not mixed with loose gravel??

and how do tamiyas compare to the HPI sprint 2 and E-10 cars??

I dont mind if it can fit brushless or not as I am not gonna race.
and I don't care about spektrum as nobody near me has any RC cars anyway.

so basically what is the best Electric on-road car for under £200 preferably nearer £150

hi yes get ridd of those pesky nitro more trouble than there worth .lol.  to be honest if you whant a cheap easy to maintain road car with lots of spares look at the tamiya tlo1 or tamiya tao2 both great cars with loads of spares , infact there was a tao2 on the bay yesterday just needed a body shell buy it now price was £35 quid , the hpi cars are good but i think you will find the parts are not as plentifull as the tamiya models ,  for a little more speed  you could install a budget brushles system such as the ezrun for around 50 to 60 pounds this would wake the thing up a lot . and have you driffiting all over the car park .lol..  this is the kinda thing iam talking about very cool . ...   http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=91335&id=3338    thanks

well had a look at the TA02 chassis and the TL01... looks like they are quite ancient...

I have looked at the TT01 and TA05... these seem newer and spares might be easier...

would the TA05 drive on slightly worn roads? or is it a track only chassis?

I have a batteries, charger, receiver and servo so a kit isn't a problem and a motor, esc and Tx are cheap.

I think an E-10 or a tt01 will be my best bet, as I can hop them up quickly and they are more designed for road use rather than tracks.

thanks for the help Notatoy

hi yes the tao2 and tlo1 are pretty old now , but still lots of spares for them  the tao5 is a better option and more upto date i think any of the cars you have listed will drive on on a slightly rough surface , it will depend on your suspension a tiers as to how they perform  the E-10 and tto1 will also be a good choice , and ofcourse have good spares support . thanks .

I have a 1:10 Schumacher mission, all carbon fibre, ready to run, very fast and cracking for drifting, and I'm after a nitro truck if you fancy a swap?
