Roll cage - by scale

Im looking to make a roll cage for a Kamtec Landy. Was thinking of using brake pipes from a 1/1th. Any better ideas ?

Also, how to attach to the body shell ? Will try to make a canvas covered frame for the back.

Any suggestions much apreciated
