Havoc Suspension Spacers
« on: October 05, 2008, 11:45:19 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has messed around with the combination of these and found any good combinations?

One thing I do know is not to leave them out completely on the front.  %*%

Do you mean the pre-load spacers?

These are used only for setting ride height, and will not affect shocks. I just set mine up to have the same height as in the manual, and it works a treat over most terrain.  :)

Yeah thats what im talking about. I have noticed if you add more (and therefore compress the springs more) it reacts differently on landing, turning and braking, depending on where you add them.

I took them out of the front end completely when putting in a new bulkhead. I somehow forgot to put them back on and every time it turned all it wanted to do was roll  %*%

Thats because the front of the truck would have been lower that the rear. Therefore the weight transfer on turning would adversely load the outer turning wheel thus inducing a roll over tendency.

What seems like a small adjustment to a setup can often have large effects. Remember to a 1/10th truck a 5mm spacer is like a 50mm spacer on a full scale vehicle. Imagine how that would affect the handling of a road car etc

Yeah I understand that now. What was happening though was that the spring wasn't under any compression at all. It wasn't being seated properly and therefore it wasn't acting like it should. Every time t he Havoc turned, even at relatively low speeds, it would roll on its lid. It was only when I jumped it sideways into a building and broke a ball joint that i realised what was wrong with it  :(
