Reccomended Mettalic Silver Paint
« on: April 27, 2008, 07:35:43 PM »
Hi gys,

Didnt really know where to post this, so sorry if its the wrong place.

Ive got a Lexus IS200 body for my TT01, which matches my 1:1 car. Only problem is, I can't seem to find a mettalic silver paint (my 1:1 car is Mettalic Platinum Ice, which in non lexus terms, is mettalic silver). I though about using normal car spray paint (from Halfords), which would be ok if it stays on a shelf, but I dont want it to flake off if I actually use it. I dont intend crashing it, just a bit scared that just driving along will flex the body enough to flake the paint.

If any knows other wise, or knows of an effective acrylic paint (or if anyone knows a place that can mix RC paints, to normal automotive colour codes) then It'd be great.

Cheers

Gazza

I'm sure Tamiya do a metallic silver spray. You need to back it with plain white to fully bring out the effect though. Personally I've found silver to be the hardest colour to get a good effect and quality finish from. I tend to avoid using it now.

Don't you non polycarbonate sprays though, they will flake quicker than ...............errr....something flakey

Try Tamiya PS48 which is a nice metallic silver. You need a lot of coats though so might be worth getting 2 cans.... You need to back it in black
