That looks niiiice! Especially that pressed-aluminium ladder chassis. 28) Scale crawlers have officially arrived, now that Tamiya have properly joined in. O0

Cold Fusion Status: Not running, due to broken suspension arm.
Air Fury Status: Pretty much running. Needs new battery setup (overheating badly), and soon, motors.
Electrical Storm Status: Under construction; 25% complete. Will finish it sometime before the earth is swallowed up by the sun.
TBX (Tamiya Brushless Xtreme) Status: STILL waiting to be sold as an "almost-roller". PM me if interested!
King Bee Status: Almost flying, just needs a few bits and some repairs.
Solaris Status: It flies! Ailerons are rubbish, but it flies. Just doesn't like landing...
Project X: So secret, it doesn't even have a codename!

I think its pretty much spot on. I like crawlers to keep a certain road going look, the custom crawlers just don't do it for me. This manages to look realistic and yet, from the video, still makes a pretty nice capable crawler. Hopefully it won't cost that much either, theres not much to it really. My guess will be around £180, which will make the Axial crawlers have to check their stupid prices 2:)

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'd imagine they will be the same, Axial's Scorpion crawler is only £189 (wheelspin) without electrics... I dare say Tamiya will do the same with this one.

I heard mid May, so that Modelsport date is looking good.

I agree though, this is looking like the must have model of the year so far. Once you get a Land Rover shell on it, then its perfection! :D

You can order them for £180 inc shipping from Hong Kong, £60 saving which will pay for radio gear and battery. The price will drop in a few months, not worth over £200 imo.

You say £180 inc shipping. I just tried and it came out $270 + $70 shipping which equates to £212. I can get one delivered for £225 with all paid from GB Models with sales support.

Is there something Im missing ?

Think I will go via GB  models then - may be an extra £12 but at least they are over here in case of a faulty item

The exchange rate is rubbish now, better to buy in the UK now. I think prices will go up though soon, as soon as the wholesalers need to pass on the higher prices to the shop then on to the customers

Ive now bought a CR01 second hand (with metal gear servos novak xrs sport esc nand 55t motor)and just about to swap the Toyota shell for a Kamtec 110 Defender shell.

Once done will knock up a vid.

Having seen my mates Axial, I think the CR01 willl come out second best. It has one problem in that the battery sits on top of the chassis so COG is quite high for a real crawler.

Has anybody had any ideas on saddle packs or relocating ther battery ?

I wanted the CR01 seeing as I dont want to go down the route of crawling more to scale trials with half decent crawling capabilities

Tim

Upgrade to Lipo cells, you can get some quite small packs that would deliver enough power for the demands of crawling. Won't cost more than £15 for 2000 capacity either, just need a charger.
