Ive run mine twice now and have had a few problems. First the brakes dont seem to work very well. I think it could just be that the cheap servo that comes with it just inst strong enough. Also on mine a few bolts and screws have worked themselves loose so well worth everyone checking everything.

Also after a bit of a crash my father bust his steering servo, then after replacing it with a Hitec one, he then proceeded to drive into a goal post which bend his front shock shaft at 90 degrees and smashed the lower wishbone. But we ordered some genuine HPI parts and they fit perfectly.

Still trying to get used to the sheer size of them tho.lol

I got mine today from Kingmotor in China. Took it out for a spin and unfortunately the LH Rear Upper Suspension arm link which is threaded stripped out within about 2 minutes! The half shaft therefore was free to fly which tore the rubber gaitors. Back in the workshop I've applied superglue to the plastic threads and screwed it all back together in the hope it's gonna last a while longer. Meantime, I'm on the lookout for a stronger alloy rear upper arm set.  :(

That's odd...shouldn't happen unless you really slammed it into something at an awkward angle. ??? It might just be a dodgy part, so for the time being I'd suggest you just pick up a replacement plastic arm. Only if you keep having issues would aluminium perhaps be an option as more often than not, all but the very best aluminium parts will bend in a bad crash instead of breaking like a cheaply-replaceable plastic arm.

Wow, that's a long and grammatically rubbish sentence lol. Anyway, that's my suggestion. :)
For the best R/C product news, reviews and forums, visit www.rckingdom.co.uk!

Cold Fusion Status: Not running, due to broken suspension arm.
Air Fury Status: Pretty much running. Needs new battery setup (overheating badly), and soon, motors.
Electrical Storm Status: Under construction; 25% complete. Will finish it sometime before the earth is swallowed up by the sun.
TBX (Tamiya Brushless Xtreme) Status: STILL waiting to be sold as an "almost-roller". PM me if interested!
King Bee Status: Almost flying, just needs a few bits and some repairs.
Solaris Status: It flies! Ailerons are rubbish, but it flies. Just doesn't like landing...
Project X: So secret, it doesn't even have a codename!

Thanks, that's appreciated, I'll go for the plastic ones, as you say, an iffy part maybe.

I have just brought one i could not justify the 700 quid for the baja to the wife but i was able to sulk for a day or two and she let me spend the 350 on one of these  O0

the hand set is cheep and nasty but i had a spare traxxas handset i just swapped the crystal and off it went... It has a 4 channel receiver too but is only using 2 channels any ideas what to do with the spare channels

as for quality it looks OK to me but if and when things break i could replace them with so called quality parts from baja if it is a direct copy..

It is Sunday the sun is shining and i off out with my new toy to run the second tank of fuel through it

Can anyone recommend the best pipe to go for or the best pipe with the most sensible price and one that isn't sticking out in the danger zone and due to be bent/snapped off anytime soon?

Well the TGN X-Can is the best protected no doubt, but it's nothing more than muffler so don't expect anything amazing from it.

My personal choice would be the side-mounted Dominator, it looks fairly out of the way and reasonably protected where it is, and the performance isn't too shabby either >:D

If you want a quieter pipe take a look at this one http://www.pythonmotorsports.com/fg/offroad_parts/offroad_images/hpirdpipecolL.JPG comes in chrome too  O0, the rd logics one seems to be the best one for racing as in quieter and has the stinger facing ground , also is enclosed in the rear
good reviews on it so far

Terrible news
i can't stand people ripping others off
i bet the quality is lower with the clone and it ruins the hobby because if someone buys one and it falls apart easily people will get fed up
with the hobby and give up because of the cost
 :-- >:(

According to reports the manufacture for both the hpi and copy are both made in the same factory using the same parts for both so quality wouldnt be an issue , there is speculation that a uk shop might be importing some to sell (speculation only ) , certainly a cheaper way into the hobby at over half the hpi price and the hpi parts apparently are a direct fit

Quote
ive seen one in real life and they ar exactly the same as hpi baja , the only thing s that they dont have is drive shaft boots but they do have the upgraded driveshafts which is a hop up on hpi bajas, they also have dirt buster tyres front/rear just nwithout hpi on the sidewall, they must of been under some agreement with hpi to no release them onto the open market untill now hense that is why we are only seeing them now, i have put my hpi baja and the so called clone throught the same sort of bashing test if you want to call it that and they have no flaws or anything that is weak on them, soon to be available for sale in uk contact me for more info price is going to be around £400 - £430 just tying up loose ends for a container full (250 per container)

that quote is from someone in the uk

sorry i know this is a old thread now . but i looked at these clones a few weeks back and did some research they are not what they seem . most peopel that owend them reported problems from the start like fuel leeks shocks coming undone and poor quality drive train .hence this put me of the idea i must admit i was very tempted for the price as i have always loved hpi baja .but these are no replacment , infact some hobby shops have refused to sell them because of all the complaints buyer beware .  ;)
