xray T1 identification (T1 FK, FK05 T1R ???)
« on: July 19, 2007, 01:31:14 PM »
Hi guys n gals,
i've recently got into 1/10 touring car racing and bought a used xray. i was told it was a T1 but not sure if it's an FK or FK05 or T1r. i'm looking out for some spares and an instruction manual (they still have some at Mirage) but not sure which manual to buy. How can you tell the different models? anyone know?

Well, I'm no expert on touring cars by any means (that's putting it mildly lol), but the T1R (Raycer) has a plastic-composite tub chassis, as opposed to the carbon-fibre chassis' of the normal T1 models. As for differentiating between the T1 and T1 FK kits...I couldn't say off the top of my head. :-\

They're all very good cars though, if a little outdated. How much did you pay, out of interest? :)

Cold Fusion Status: Not running, due to broken suspension arm.
Air Fury Status: Pretty much running. Needs new battery setup (overheating badly), and soon, motors.
Electrical Storm Status: Under construction; 25% complete. Will finish it sometime before the earth is swallowed up by the sun.
TBX (Tamiya Brushless Xtreme) Status: STILL waiting to be sold as an "almost-roller". PM me if interested!
King Bee Status: Almost flying, just needs a few bits and some repairs.
Solaris Status: It flies! Ailerons are rubbish, but it flies. Just doesn't like landing...
Project X: So secret, it doesn't even have a codename!

ok thanks, it's not the T1r then as i have a carbon-fibre chassis.
paid ?80 for it, included everything except the radio receiver or manual of course. raced it for the first time last week end (first for the car and first for me on a tarmac track  ??? ). did very well, 2nd over all but i was against two six year olds ha....... So far spent around ?240 for a the car, bat packs, another charger (hence this thread) and some spares

had a look for you & can see exactly which model it is  :)

its a T1 Evo2 Foc

the Foc stands for Freedon of Choice
when this kit was supplied new you got all the parts in the kit to run either "C" hub suspension or pivotball!
basically it had 2 comlete sets of arms hubs & everything!

yours is currently runing pivotball setup at the mo  ;)

i know you can get a full "C" hub conversion kit quite cheaply which includes 3 sets of rear arms in different stiffnesses, 2 setrs of front plus 2 sets of different stiffness C hubs in 3 & 6 degrees caster (i think, taken from memory :-\)

that supplied kit has the long suspension arms that mount inboard of the bulkheads, you could also if you didn't mind buying the parts seperately fit the short suspension arms that were factory fitted to the FK & FK05 etc

i'll find you a link for spares as i've just noticed one of my cars has the wrong hub fitted on 1 side so i need to order some parts anyway  ::)

hey Showtime, thanks very much.  O0
only just started racing so i'll be a while working out all the settings and what suits my driving (when i manage to stay on the track). now i know what to look for, is it worth getting a user manual? i could work out how to adjust all the settings but it would be quicker with a manual.
