You are not wrong there, but ask before you buy.
There are some good deals out there if you know where to look. Sometimes its best to shop here in the UK, but the USA and Hongkong can also save you a tidy penny on certain things. Ebay is another useful resource, but you have to be a little careful here at times.

May advise, don't go mad on hop-up as most kits are best left in stock form. I've found it better to put spare money towards extra models. This way if you break one, you have another waiting to replace it whislt yoi buy the (cheaper stock) spare part O0

When you say new to the hobby. Does this mean you have an RC or are just looking to get one?

Give us an idea of the sort of thing you have or are after and we'll be able to target the advise better O0

Hi Bazza,

I'd love to know what electric models you were running. There must be the odd classic there spanning a 13 year gap. You may want to look again at the electric market, batteries and motors are amazing now. Nitrotek are great, many on here trust and use them. The other shop is much newer though, never heard of them. Seems many more companies are now getting the same stock as Nitrotek, bet they are miffed about that :-\ Good for us lot though, competition drives the prices down :D

cheers for the reply laughing potato,

The electric models I used to run were all tamiya like the grasshopper, hornet, mad bull, blackfoot and the mid night pumpkin but not all at the same time. I think this site is great what cars/trucks do you run and how long have you been into the Rc world.
do you know much about the acme conquistador as this is my first nitro

The odd thing about the old Tamiya's you have just mentioned is they are pretty much all now available new. Tamiya have over the last few years re-launched much of there back catalogue of models. I don't know much about the conquestidor to be honest, although I am a fan of the Team Infinity engine that powers it.

I was into RC 15 years ago, then took a 10 year break (kids/house etc) back with a bang now though :D

Welcome to RCK Fangio,

Great little crawlers the Nylints. Just watch the gears on the front axle, they can strip if pushed to hard

I'd just like to welcome everyone to my first post!
If you any need help advising me, just ask.  :)

  ???

 :D

This is intro thing is going quite well.

I said intro, not nitro!

My first RC car was a Tamiya Wild One. Yes, when they were new on the shelf!
Then various Kyoshos, Associateds, scratch builts. Couldn't compete with the 'Predator', so I took a break. = 20ish yrs.
Back in it now, all secondhand stuff. 3 Associateds, Bosscat, Yokomo TC, and XRAY TC evo2. All electric.
Just bought a Hot Bodies Lightning Truggy on Ebay, to be converted to brushless before it ever runs with my thumb at the wheel. Er, so to speak.
Mostly bashing, vaguely racing, down in Devon.

Das it!  28)

Do you still have it tucked away in the loft or shed. The original Preds can be worth a few bob now, could be worth hunting down.

No unfotunately, when I said 'compete with' I meant against the Predator.
And yes, when something is good but not affordable it can become a rarity years later!  ;)
And again , no. I don't have one.  :(
