Well said Rob! (--)

Yup, all newcomers are shaken warmly by the hand (or in this case, mouse)! Please, get stuck in with all the activities here at RCK...we're all one big happy family. Of course, if you ever have a question about anything RC-related, then don't be shy; post all the questions you like! And us Mods are just a PM away, should you need help related to RCK itself.
Whatever your background, we're glad to have you onboard. O0

Cold Fusion Status: Not running, due to broken suspension arm.
Air Fury Status: Pretty much running. Needs new battery setup (overheating badly), and soon, motors.

TBX (Tamiya Brushless Xtreme) Status: STILL waiting to be sold as an "almost-roller". PM me if interested!
King Bee Status: Almost flying, just needs a few bits and some repairs.
Solaris Status: It flies! Ailerons are rubbish, but it flies. Just doesn't like landing...

Well said you two.

Thought I'd post here, I aint new, but I been away for a while (kinda lost the love while saving for a new car) but it feels good to be back!  O0

All you new people who haven't introduced yourself, go on, we dont bite (unless you ask nicely) and the help and information you can access here is second to none (in my humble opinion, anyway).

just watch out for Mini-Angel, she's a bit unhinged (eh, Savageman.......?  ;))

Drew

Oh and LP, hows about some new smilies? I'm bored with these ones.....  O0
I got me a broken SSK.....again. Been fixed for the last time. SCRAP IT says she. She shall be obeyed.
Now a house with zero 'proper' RCs. Awwwwwwwww......

I would also suggest placing a pin the the member map O0

http://www.rckingdom.co.uk/smf/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=127&action=mm

It good to know roughly what bit of this blue and green rock you inhabit. I expect the UK to get plastered, but would be great to see some more overseas members adding their pin.

Also I'm doing a general guide to the site, not finished but it will help you get up and running
http://www.rckingdom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=2462.0

Please don't forget the main site, lots of stuff gets added all the time on www.rckingdom.co.uk as we are not just a forum O0

All the best and welcome to RcK :bye:

Yeap, I can honestly say that a great deal of respect is shown on the forum, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Whatever level you are in the hobby you should not be afraid to ask questions, or seek help. We all got stuck on some of the simplest things in the beginning, and I still manage it most of the time now 2:)

Thanks for the comments about RcK, and a very big welcome to the site O0

Well hello there. I'm a South African living in Newcastle Upon Tyne (hopefully permanent, speak to me in 2.5 years). Not into RC but I'm looking to get myself a car later this year. Hopefully at that stage I'll be able to participate in the forum more. Joined the site because it seemed like the best UK one I could find, initial reason for joining was for advice about what to get, when I actually get one I'll probably need advice on how to use it
Until then I'll probably just flit around and try and participate as much as possible. Anything else you wanna know feel free to ask.

Well hello!
Joined up yesterday after buying my first RC car for nearly 10 years - the last one I had was the Tamiya FWD Mini Cooper, which got wrecked when I decided rather stupidly to drive in the snow..... %*%
Looks like an excellent site, friendly and easy to navigate!
New machine is an Academy Griffin Pro buggy - I reckon a week or so of evenings ought to see it up & running (with any luck.....)
Any tips on building, setup or driving gratefully received!
For the record I'm 26, a 'white van man' living in sunny Worcestershire. If your're near or far, I'd be glad to hear from you. :)

Hi there! Welcome to RcK, it's always good to have new faces around here :) IMO you've picked up a great little buggy, too...the Griffin Pro is a very nicely specified buggy for a very nice price. Let us know how you get on, and if you have any issues whatsoever, we'll do our best o help out. The Griffin is primarily designed as a racer, and you'd get ten-fold the enjoyment out of it if you take it to a club and race her in the Worcestershire area (does anyone here know of a suitable club around there?).

Anyways, a BIG welcome! O0

Welcome to RcK O0

Academy are very good kits and that one will serve you well. The only problem you will find is the weak shock caps which can and will pop off after mild jumps. The thread on them is very fine, not creating enough bite. I strongly suggest using a good quality thread lock on the caps O0

Here is the Griffin for those wanting to know

Thanks for the welcome - think I'm gonna be happy here!
I shall bear that in mind with regard to the threadlock - always nice to eliminate at least one potential source of grief...... :)
The Griffin does seem to be good value - I had not heard of Academy until recently. I considered some RTR buggies in the same class from Traxxas, Associated etc but, as a bit of a mechanical numpty ::), I reckoned it was probably better for me to build one up from a kit so as and when it breaks/needs upgrding, I might have some sort of idea of what to do.....
'Package' price with Acoms radio, Nosram Hawk ESC & Yokomo pro-stock motor came in at under ?180.

There certainly used to be an RC club in Worcester, racing indoors on carpet if memory serves me correctly.....
Nothing showing up on web search though. :-\

Danny

Take a look here http://www.rckingdom.co.uk/mam/index.php?option=com_google_maps&Itemid=179

Is there any reason why you have settled on those two? Before you buy anything, think about the following

Is the model well supported with parts
Is it going to suit my needs, racing, bashing, or general use over the park etc
How much do I have to spend
Nitro/Electric
reliability, quality, hop-ups
re-sale value
etc

I know these models are the cheap end of the market, but that need not put you off. I run a Acme Cyclone onroad car and it has been amazing and gets used much more than I ever thought it would.

:-[ As im only a beginner i thought i would start with one of them
plus you can upgrade them as i progress.
Im getting it from NITRO TEK so it from a shop with parts handy.
My back gardon goes to open farm land plus im not far from skeggy or mablethope
so off, rders would be good for me to use.
My mate has a HPI nitro truck he offerd me whats all upgraded
for 150 and it clocks at 72mph but im not going to learn to do them
up if its done already.....
