A guide to RcKingdom.co.ukThis guide will be constantly edited as features and functions get added and removed from RcK. This will shortly build to cover all aspects of the site.
About RcKingdom (RcK)Rckingdom is all about RC in the UK, if you are thinking about purchasing your first model or have been using them for years, there is something for you at RcK. We have members that don?t even own a RC model to people winning National Championships. You don?t need to be from the UK either to be part of the site, we welcome members from all other the world.
JoiningJoining RcK couldn?t be easier, just click the link below to register
http://www.rckingdom.co.uk/smf/index.php?action=registerYou are then free to post in the forum and take part in many other areas of the site. You will also notice the site and forum increase in size as being a member allows you to view and benefit from previously unseen areas. These include the popular Pitlane section which is specially moderated by national level racers.
Once registered please take time to complete your profile, this only takes a minute and helps everyone know a little more about you. At this point I would also recommend placing your dot on our new member map. This will enable us all to grasp where everyone lives in the UK, and with a click of the mouse the whole world. This will build into a very useful way of meeting up for bashes.
Member Map Click the link below to access the Member Map.
http://www.rckingdom.co.uk/smf/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=127&action=mmYou will also find a button on the top forum menu to access it at anytime you need it. Only members can view the map and benefit from what it has to offer, this way you are only showing your location to people here at RcK.
You will notice the default map is of the United Kingdom, but there are maps from all other the world, even a full world map view. Just select the map that is in your part of the world and the click ?place your pin?. Then click the part of the map that you live and your pin will be placed. You can then add a little extra detail in the city box to further enhance your location. Then simply click ?save my pin? and it will be there for all to see. You can remove or alter the position of the pin at anytime should you feel it?s in the wrong place. Now the clever bit, you National flag will automatically be placed along side your name. Clicking on any of the members names at the bottom of the map will make their dot flash on the map. Clicking on the dot will take you to their profile. This is a very valuable and handy way to find members in your area.
How to use the forumThe RcKingdom forum is feature packed, and makes for use of current versions and up to date technology. Once you have joined you may want to introduce yourself in your first post. This gives current members a little idea of who you are and what models you have. By doing this you will get many replies welcoming you to the site and you will straight away feel a valued member of RcKingdom. We pride ourselves on helping people of all abilities and backgrounds. If you need help, however simple it may seem, don?t be afraid to ask.
Member bonusNow you have joined, you would have noticed the forum almost doubles in size. You now have full access to the areas hidden from guest view. The Kingdom Club is a laid back member?s area with posts only visible to members. The Pitlane section is a valuable resource for racing information and advice, with many racers contributing race reports throughout the season. RcKingdom does not have a protected or hidden area for selected members. We don?t treat a select few differently, or use it to chat about people, as some forums do!
ClassifiedsRcKingdom also offers a Classifieds section, and you are free to post items for sale as soon as you reach a post count of 5. This gives members a little time to get to know you before trading with you. We offer a feedback system after members have completed transactions, with bad sellers getting banned immediately. All transactions are at your own risk; RcKingdom only provides the trading space and cannot be held responsibly if a trade goes wrong. We do our best to keep this area as safe and trustworthy as possible. Use common sense, and if in doubt don?t buy!
How to post imagesBandwidth is expensive, and as RcKingdom isn?t funded we can only offer one section within the forum for you to upload images using our webspace. This section is the gallery, just click ?additional options? to get the option to upload your images. You can create your own gallery with 10MB space now you are a member. See Members gallery (below). Images must not exceed 120kb, and dimensions no more than 640x640.
FREE Members Gallery and image hostingHere is a quick guide to setting up your own FREE gallery,
When you enter the gallery
http://www.rckingdom.co.uk/cpg/You have the option (create/order my albums) in a blue box. Click that, then on the next screen click "NEW" , and change the name to whatever you want. Then click apply modifications. Once back to the main screen, click on the home symbol at the top of the page, and select the text (upload file)
Then from here on in its easy and you have your own space for images.
Pictures have to be Admin approved until you have a certain number of posts (can't remember how many :-[). So if you haven't yet done one, now you have no excuse.
If you want images on the forum other than the Gallery section you need to host them yourself and post the link. Not everyone is able to do this, as everyones ability around the pc and web is very different. RCK can help though

As members you already get free image hosting here
http://www.rckingdom.co.uk/cpg/ so if you haven't set up a gallery so far, do so. Once you have uploaded the images and they have been checked (just to be safe). You can then view them and by pressing the
I Info button it will bring up the URL for the image. Just post this in any forum and a link to your image will be made.
I really think this will help many of you who need a way to display images Afro
